Hey guys! I’ve been having issues with WordPress lately that are really getting on my nerves so we’re going to be moving back to www.blackoutphotography.blogspot.com!

Here’s our BIG announcement::
After a lot of consideration we’ve decided to stay put here in MB for a while longer – meaning that we ARE taking MANY MANY more bookings and weddings!!! Message us to book!!!

What to say about Jay and Tracy…?  Well, for one, you know when you meet people outside of your regular life and you feel like it’s a breath of fresh air just to know that there are sane, normal, fun, generous, and happy people out there?  Jay and Tracy were like that for us. :)   They are so much fun to be with and their wedding day was full of laughter!  I had moment during their formals on their wedding day where I’m actually pretty sure I said out loud that it felt a little too comfortable with them – like we had known each other forever!  Totally a blessing that I don’t take for granted in my job when you mesh so well with your clients.

This whole wedding was detail upon detail and all with a vintage theme – including Tracy’s fabulous show-stopping vintage wedding gown that totally left us breathless.  Not that the sexy Rolls-Royce hurt the photos at all either ;)  You guys were a dream to work with as clients and even better as friends.

Love you guys and wish you all the best and even more than that.

And yes Jay, you were right to “thank Baby Jesus for your smokin’ hot wife” :)

Check out the slideshow of some of their wedding day highlights {not in order for some reason but you get the point} :)

Jenni-Lynn has been in my life for a long long time.  We survived our awkward teenage years together in highschool, went to the same church and youth group together, travelled to Vancouver and Guatemala together on a missions trip, we still to this day lead a worship team together at our church {something we have probably been doing for over 10 years already}, and she was also a  bridesmaid in my wedding.   To sum our friendship up, usually I was the one doing dumb things, and she was the one laughing at me or pretending she didn’t know me. :)   And now she’s married – to someone that totally completes her and compliments her in every way.  This wedding went so smoothly and was full of laughter and smiles and so much joy I thought we were going to blow the roof off of the church.  It was truly a gift for me to be able to spend the entire day with them.  My heart is so happy for you guys and editing your photos brought tears so my eyes.  I love you to the moon and back and I wish you many many many years of happiness, blessings, and never needing to say goodbye at night again. :)

A huge shoutout to Peggy at Little Flower Shop for the amazing job she did on the flowers!  Also, Level 3 Studios where some of the formals were taken, Word Of Life Church in Niverville, and Evergreen Village.

On Monday night Misty and I finally got to pull off a concept shoot that had literally been MONTHS in the making.  We decided it was kind of a do or die scenario when the weather was never really cooperating with our plans of pulling this off.  Sure enough, the forecast called for thundershowers again Monday evening and we kicked that stupid weather in the face and did it anyway.  I’m really glad we decided to go through with it {My equipment wasn’t too happy with me I’m sure - but I am glad Canon stuff is so forgiving} because the rain really allowed some cool effects to go on and allowed me some interesting ways to bump the lighting a little and create that Red Riding Hood/Alice In Wonderland feeling to come to life.  Believe it or not, this session was shot in about 15-30 minutes – a quick in/out before we got completely soaked.  I couldn’t be more happy with the photos!  We kept joking too that we were waiting for some Comicon junkies to stop and gawk at her while we were shooting – none did though - cuz they are probably smarter than we were and wouldn’t be caught in the rain.  :)

Kaitlyn has been a part of my life for quite a while so it was truly an honour to be asked to be the photographer for her wedding to Donovan.  We started out the day with make-up and getting dressed, then we headed over to the Legislative Building for some formals, then finishing up the second set of formals at the Red River Princess St. Campus — both are my personal favourites for being able to experiment a little with the different lighting throughout each location.  We then made our way over to the Niverville Heritage Centre for the ceremony and reception.  Luckily everything was planned for indoors because the rain definitely didn’t hold back that day!  Despite that little setback you guys were smiling from ear to ear all day long!   You guys are wonderful people, inside and out, and your wedding was equally as awesome!   You could feel the love all day long, not just from the couple but from everyone around them supporting them.  Blessings and love from our team—and a huge thank you for adopting Jordan and I as a part of your family. :)
